Community Feature: The Love Fridge

Dirt Farms Fridge in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. “Free Food” is painted on the front and the fridge is stocked with fresh produce.
Two things we absolutely love are fresh food and fridges!

This March, we proudly partnered with The Love Fridge – a Chicago mutual aid group grounded in food, working to place community-sustained fridges across the city. They believe that being able to feed yourself is a right, not a privilege, and we are thrilled to partner with a group so aligned with our mission.

The Love Fridge’s goal is to nourish their communities while combating food scarcity and food waste through working with other like-minded community partners including neighborhood volunteers. We’re big fans of their hand-painted fridges – available 24/7 and carefully placed in accessible locations throughout the city. Each fridge they place has been painted by local artists to reflect the communities in which they live.

We’re on a mission to make it simple for everyone to eat well, no matter their circumstances – and this year we’re able to continue that with monthly sponsored donations to community organizations. Donating fresh meals has always been core to who we are and we’re proud to continue that in 2021.
