Meet SIMPLi, our chia seed and quinoa supplier, aka the key ingredients behind our most popular menu items!
Quinoa – misunderstood by many (is it pronounced kween-oh-ah or kwin-oh-ah?) but oh, so good for you! We're letting you in on the amazing source that supplies both our quinoa and chia.
Meet SIMPLi: a minority, woman-owned company founded in 2020 on a mission to transform the food system into one that is good for you, for the planet, and for producers.
It's important to us to work with partners who share our commitment to the best taste possible; who believe in treating their employees and the environment as ethically as possible. Of course, impeccable food safety standards are a must, as well as the capability to meet our demand for volume.
We're huge fans of SIMPLi because they believe in ethical food sourcing for a better world and even improve the livelihoods of their farmers by providing direct access to global markets to create better economic opportunities. Their commitment to investing in the growing communities of Peru and Paraguay benefits both the farmers and customers who receive these nutrient-dense, high quality ingredients.
Did you know? When you enjoy our Pineapple Coconut Chia Seed Pudding or our new Mediterranean Bowl with quinoa you're fueling up on nutritious grains from farming communities in the mountains of Peru and Central Paraguay? Let's get into it.
Let's talk Quinoa:
Actually pronounced KEEN-wah – is a gluten-free seed often referred to as a “pseudograin” because it’s similar in nutrients and eaten the same way as most grains! It comes loaded with plenty of vitamins and minerals while containing more protein and fiber than most other grains and is one of the few plant proteins that is a complete protein. This is why enjoying any of our items with quinoa like our Baja Bowl or the fan-favorite Green Goddess Salad fills you up and provides sustained energy until your next meal.
Fun fact: Peru provides about half of the world's supply of quinoa! Hailing from the rolling hills near the Andes, Peru’s agricultural communities have been growing quinoa for thousands of years. So next time you're chowing down on an Apple Pecan Chicken Salad, know you're basically traveling to the hills of Peru.

Now, let's chat about chia:
Commonly eaten for breakfast; chia seeds are often served with coffee in the morning in Paraguay and other regions. The chia seeds we use from SIMPLi are harvested twice per year from the San Pedro region and fun fresh fact: Chia's a member of the mint family!
The seeds are rich in nutrients, high in fiber, and heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids – all contributing reasons to using featuring them in our Pineapple Coconut and Chocolate Chia Seed Puddings. We're all about packing our meals with the right nutrients.
